A course exploring a range of media and how to apply them in order to create works of art.

Event / Course Description
This course will encourage learners to explore and experiment with different media, learning how to use it creatively in order to interpret different subjects, from still life to images of landscape.
We will begin by looking at charcoal and push the boundaries that you have with this medium. The tutor will be demonstrating expressive and gestural techniques that you can apply to both abstract and figurative use.
Learners will be given the opportunity to apply these expressive ideas to ink and water-based paints in the subsequent weeks.
We will look at various artists including, Frank Auerbach, Willem De Kooning, Joan Eardley and Franz Klein whose work can act as inspirations for your artworks.

Who Should Attend
This course is open to any level of ability. It just requires a willingness to find out what materials can do and try pushing them in unusual ways.
Event / Course Outcomes
The tutor will provide all materials needed for the first two sessions. As the course progresses, learners will be advised on suitable equipment they will need to purchase.
